International financial consultancy firm MicroSave on Thursday signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) with NITI Aayog. The SoI is designed to collaborate on digital transformation and innovations across sectors.

Some of the potential areas that have initially been identified for collaboration include smart agriculture, digitizing agriculture value chains and access to markets, digital payments, digitization of direct benefit transfers in food, fertilizer, fuel (LPG, kerosene) amongst other.

The collaboration, will however, extend to exchange of knowledge with other countries on thematic areas related to digital transformation.

The SoI was signed in presence of Anna Roy, adviser, Data Management and Analysis, and Industries, NITI Aayog and Puneet Chopra, associate director, MicroSave.

"NITI Aayog had taken several innovative initiatives to promote government's goal of promoting digital payments. Programs like DigiDhan campaigns, BHIM app promotion and cashless townships created general pan-India awareness for adopting digital mode in various financial transactions. NITI now intends to leverage this base to enable transformation in the economic spheres by exploring ways in which it can help lead to generating greater economic activity streams and increase productivity," said adviser Data Management and Analysis, and Industries, NITI Aayog, Anna Roy.

"This partnership with MicroSave will help us identify such potential areas for creating such transformative economic impact," Roy added.

"It is an honour and a privilege to collaborate with NITI Aayog, a premier think-tank of the Government of India. We at MicroSave have been contributing to support and derive benefits from digital transformation for the masses, particularly the financially and the socially excluded people, in India and in other countries. In collaboration with NITI Aayog, we aspire to catalyze, accelerate and scale the impact of and benefits from digital transformation, for the weaker and the excluded segments," said associate director, MicroSave, Puneet Chopra.
