The Punjab Home Deaprtment has reportedly warned provincial police force that some Chechen and Uzbek militants, who were driven out of Waziristan in the wake of the Zarb-i-Azb military operation, are trying to join the Islamic State (IS) in the country.
In a letter to the divisional police chiefs, intelligence agencies and the counter-terrorism department of Punjab, the home department said that there were reports that some militant groups of Pakistan were trying to join the IS due to its anti-Shia policies, reported the Dawn.
The letter said that intelligence reports suggested that the 'Salafi' groups were inclined toward the terror group which might be seeking support from other terror groups.
The home department has asked law-enforcement agencies to keep an eye on individuals associated with banned outfits and their activities.
