Furious at the recent incident of a Janata Dal (Secular) worker slapping a woman colleague during a meeting, women's rights activist Pramila Nesargi on Sunday said that the mindset of men has not changed as they feel that women can be 'used in any manner he likes'.

Speaking to ANI, Nesargi demanded that JD (S) remove the offender, Chennappa Yadavar, from the party, while urging the police for a swift action.

"The mindset of men has not changed. We have got freedom but still our men feel that women is a chatter and can be used in any manner he likes. Look at the irony, this person, being a corporate, being an elected representative, having no sense. He just goes and slaps her, what does it mean? I cannot tolerate this," she told ANI.

"There are three options open, one is that the political party must suspend him, they should remove him from the party. Secondly, the police to whom the woman has given a complaint, have to start the investigation. They must file a chargesheet and he must be arrested," she added.

She also asked Mayor of Koppal to suspend Yadavar from the council.

Yadavar stood up and slapped another party worker Vijaya Hirematt for not raising her hand in support of the BJP.

The meeting was held on Friday to discuss the issue of extending support to the BJP in district municipality.
