Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq has suggested that the stalled bilateral cricket series between Indian and his nation must be revived, insisting that politics should be kept away from sports.

The proposed series between the two sub-continental rivals, which is scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates in December this year, comprises of two Tests, five one-day internationals and one Twenty20.

However, the escalating tension between the two countries along their international border has put the series in jeopardy.

Misbah, who had been hoping to draw curtains on his international career after the high-profile series, said that the two countries must play each other and insisted that people of both the nations are missing the thrilling action that comes out of an India-Pakistan series, the Dawn reported.

In the wake of Gurdaspur attack in July, Thakur had earlier ruled out the immediate resumption of stalled series against Pakistan, saying that one cannot expect a cricket series amidst rising terrorist activities.

According to the MoU signed between PCB and BCCI, both countries are scheduled to play six series in the 2015-2023 Future Tours Programme, but all were subject to clearance from New Delhi.

India have not played a full bilateral Test series with Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
