In a bid to promote culture and tourism in the Himalayan region, a beauty pageant titled 'Miss Himalaya' was organised in Dharamsala.
Six participants from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh took part in the contest held on Sunday.
Twenty-three-year-old Tanshuman Gurung from Uttarakhand was adjudged as the winner after several rounds of competition.
"I feel so great, so honoured, so blessed that I won this, I worked so hard for this. You know it was my childhood dream to won a title and I found this and I am feeling very very great and now I have a great responsibility with this," said Gurung as tears welled up in her eyes.
Tenzin Sangnyin, an exiled Tibetan living in Himachal Pradesh, was declared the first runner up, while Chum Darang from Arunachal Pradesh won the title of second runner-up.
A cash prize of Rs. 100,000 was awarded to the winner and Rs. 50,000 to the first runner-up and Rs. 25,000 to the second runner-up.
