In Assam, immunization under the Centre's ambitious 'Mission Indradhanush' will begin today in eight districts - Hailakandi, Karimganj, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Nagaon, Darramg and Goalpara.
The week-long immunization program aims at covering partially or unvaccinated children below two years to protect from seven deadly diseases - Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, Polio, Tuberculosis, Measles and Hepatitis B.
2,060 immunization sites have been set apart from 300 mobile teams for difficult areas. Vehicles and boats will be deployed to ferry around 7 thousand health personnel.
The Centre has also deployed observer to monitor the immunization program.
