Mistrust is a great threat to the world even when the world is multi-polar, warned Mr Sergey Naryshkin, the chairman of State Duma, Russian Federation.

He was speaking at an interaction on "Russia-India cooperation in BRICS and beyond" at New Delhi, organised by Observer Research Foundation on Friday.

Naryshkin, who is heading a powerful Russian parliamentary delegation, said Russia, which is taking over the chairmanship of the BRICS in coming July, would work to promote parliamentary dimension of the BRICS and would be convening a meeting of parliamentary delegations from these countries on March 6 in Moscow.

Describing the India-Russia relationship as of unmatched mutual trust and confidence, Naryshkin said India-Russia cooperation will become more pertinent in the new emerging global order. So, he said, "there is a need to reinvigorate the bilateral cooperation".

Russia's Deputy Finance Minister Sergey Storchak said the problem between Russia and India, especially BRICS, is on their focus. He noted that in the negotiations to set up the BRICS bank, Russia and India had cooperated closely.

He expressed the optimism that Russia and India would manage to resolve their problems in mutual beneficial way.
