Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee has slammed US President Barack Obama for his decision to not send any ground troops to fight the Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.

According to CBS News, Romney said that the president was "wrong" to rule out ground troops, hinting it was not wise on the President's part to announce his plans to the enemy.

Romney said that while no one wanted to see the country's ground troops there, it was not advisable to tell the enemy exactly what the US planned on doing or what it did not intend to do.

He also criticized Obama for allowing complete withdrawal of US troops from war-prone Iraq and providing moderate rebels in Syria with arms to combat the Islamic State.

Romney said that as a result of the mistakes that have been made in the past on the president's part, terrible visions of the IS brutality could now be seen on TV and the US was now under IS threat.
