A doctor refused Michael Jackson's request for propofol infusions in 2003, and claimed that six years later another physician 'put him to sleep like a dog.'

In Dr. Barney Van Valin's video testimony, shown to jurors on Friday, it was revealed that before the late singer asked a doctor to treat his insomnia with propofol, he tried falling asleep to the physician reading him bedtime stories, CNN reported.

The pop star died after he overdosed on the surgical anesthetic on June 25, 2009.

Jackson matriarch, Katherine, and three children contend AEG Live is liable for his death as the company hired, retained or supervised Dr. Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the King of Pop's propofol overdose.

Murray told investigators he gave Jackson nightly infusions of the drug to treat his insomnia the last two months of his life.

Valin, who claimed to be Jackson's best friend, denied the claims made by the concert promoter that the late singer cultivated friendships with doctors to gain access to drugs to feed a secretive addiction.

He said that the late father of three never used their friendship to get prescriptions to medications that were not prescribed.
