With the elections starting in a day, politicians on Sunday lambasted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for neglecting the party and hogging the limelight.

Congress leader Raj Babbar said the BJP should be questioned for its fall with the rise of Modi.

"You should be asking them, that what has happened to BJP that their stature has come to such a low level," said Babbar.

A former leader of regional party Janata Dal- United (JD-U), Shivanand Tiwari, said Modi lacks the grace that a Prime Minister requires.

"See, for Modi, the party is no longer important. He has grown above the party and lacks the attitude and grace that a Prime Ministerial candidate should have. BJP is no longer what it used to be during the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee (former Prime Minister). There used to be grace and a capability of uniting people in Atal's personality, which is not present in Modi's case," he said.

However, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, called Modi the face of nation's development.

"Definitely, we are very proud of Modi becoming a model of development and good governance for the nation, and the nation wants a strong leadership who can change the prevailing situation of the country," said Naqvi.
