Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the Lok Sabha elections are not being contested by any political party or an individual but it is contested by the public this time.

"It seems like this election is not being contested by any political party or an individual. It is being contested by the people," Modi said while addressing a rally here today.

"The youth has realised that if things go on this way then the future is dark. This country has 70 crore young people, who are underutilized. I want to make your dreams my dreams. Your ambition is my mission. The country cannot be left in despair," he added.

He also said that the country is not even feeling that a government like institution even exists here.

Taking on Congress's slogan 'Har Haath Shakti, Har Haath Tarakki', Modi said: "The country knows about the hand of the Congress. It is actually 'Har Haath Loot, Har Honth Jhooth'."

"Rahul Gandhi claims that it was his father, Rajiv Gandhi, who brought IT revolution in India. Everybody knows that it was not the Congress, but Vajpayee's government that brought in the IT Act in 2000 for the first time. The growth in IT export was 40% during NDA's rule, but when UPA came the growth reduced to 30%," he said while countering Rahul's claims.

He alleged that the government had promised to spend Rs 30,000 crore for field development and to give 10 lakh people employment but those promises have not been fulfilled.
