Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a hydelpower project in Uri near the River Jhelum in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla District.
Ahead of Modi's visit security has been tightened and put on a maximum alert in the state'
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have erected checking points at every entry and exit point in the city.
Police and paramilitary personnel have also started patrolling and conducting spot checks of incoming and outgoing vehicles and other transport in north Kashmir's Baramulla District.
The 240-megawatt hydelpower project,which has been constructed by the Hindustan Construction Corporation (HCC), has been handed over to the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC).
The HCC is now giving final touches to the works before the project is officially thrown open.
The Uri-II hydelpower project is located in Kalgai Village close to the LoC and is a run-of-the-river scheme.
