The family members of the Moga molestation victims, along with local residents, protested against the Punjab Police at the Civil hospital here on Sunday.

"We want justice. They are putting pressure on the family. We are showing these black flags to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal government. The police are trying to take her (victim) body to Faridkot for post mortem through a different route," said a protestor.

"We won't agree to decisions taken behind closed doors," he added.

Meanwhile, the father of the teenage victim said all he wanted was to take his daughter's body home for the last rites.

"I want to take my daughter home. I want to perform her last rites like a normal person," he said.

The Punjab Police, however, said in their defence that the family of the victim was under the misapprehension that they had not filed a First Information Report (FIR) in the case.

"The victim's family had apprehensions regarding investigation. There was a rumour that an FIR has not been registered, but we showed them the FIR. Certain elements were creating such rumours to mislead the family. However, we shared with the family the entire investigation we have undertaken so far has been in a fair and transparent manner," Moga SSP JS Khaira told ANI.

A 13-year-old girl died after she and her mother were allegedly pushed off a moving bus on the Moga-Bathinda highway for resisting a molestation bid on April 29 in Moga.

The incident led to widespread outrage and a ban on the Orbit Company's buses by the Punjab government.

The bus, in which the crime took place, reportedly belonged to Orbit Transport Company, owned by Orbit Aviation Pvt Ltd, which is co-owned by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

The police have impounded the bus.
