Molly Ringwald has joined the cast of the upcoming film based on the popular 1980's animated show 'Jem and the Holograms'.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film, which is directed by Jon M. Chu, will have a modern take on the character Jerrica Benton and her alter ego Jem, and will track the band's music-driven adventure.
The film which is already shooting in Los Angeles will star Aubrey Peeples as Jem while Ryan Guzman will play her love interest Rio.
Ringwald, 46, who recently starred in TV drama 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager', is known for her 1980's hits which include 'Pretty in Pink', 'The Breakfast Club' and 'Sixteen Candles'.
