Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly facing a fight to hold on to their manager Andre Villas-Boas after rich French side Paris Saint Germain has targeted him to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
Even as Tottenham is worrying about holding on to star winger Gareth Bale, the Mirror reported that PSG will be offering a four-year deal worth up to ten million pounds per season as a compensation 'transfer fee' to Villas-Boas, after the surprise decision of Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala's manager Guus Hiddink to stay on at his club.
According to the report, PSG, backed by the vast riches of the Qatari royal family, had lined up Hiddink to replace Real Madrid-bound Ancelotti after Jose Mourinho snubbed them to return to Chelsea, following which they have settled their sights on a fourth former Stamford Bridge boss in Villas-Boas.
Although PSG is hoping to make the offer in order to convince Spurs to release the Portuguese, however, the report said that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would not allow Villas-Boas to leave, adding that the manager's close bond with Bale makes Tottenham believe that the Welsh star will stay on at White Hart Lane.
According to the report, however, Villas-Boas is said to feel that he owes Spurs and Levy a debt of loyalty after the Tottenham chairman backed his talent last summer after he lasted less than a season as Chelsea manager, giving him a three-year contract.
The White Hart Lane club is ready to bankroll Villas-Boas' ambitious transfer plans this summer, with the Portuguese having been instrumental in the imminent appointment of former England No 2 Franco Baldini as sporting director, the report added.
