Scottish golf ace Colin Montgomerie has said that he hoped that Open Championship finalist Lee Westwood will give him back his tag as the best golfer never to win a Major.
According to The Sun, this will happen if Westwood finally makes the breakthrough, after his eighth top-three finish in the Majors at Muirfield.
Insisting that no one would be happier than him to see the Ryder Cup star win a big trophy, Montgomerie said that he cannot think of anyone better deserving of the honour than Westwood.
According to the Scot, Westwood is clearly the best player in the world never to have won a Major, adding that he used to have that tag in the past.
Montgomerie will partner defending champion Fred Couples and Mark O' Meara when he makes his Senior Open debut at Royal Birkdale, the report added.
