England cricket team coach Peter Moores has said that his players need to play an entertaining brand of cricket to make the public more excited about watching them play, as the World Cup looms up next month.

The squad, which does not include Alastair Cook, fly to Australia on Tuesday for a tri-series ahead of their World Cup campaign next month. England lost their last ODI series 5-2 to Sri Lanka last month and have won just four of their last 15 ODIs.

Moores said that the focus is on the tri-series and World Cup, which they would attack, adding that they would play in a way that would make the public excited about watching England play, the BBC reported.

Discussing a number of topics, Moores, who was speaking ahead of the team's trip to Australia, backed England as a dangerous side which could win the World Cup, and added that Cook had every chance to prove himself before being dropped.

The coach also said that new skipper Eoin Morgan would bring his exciting brand of cricket, and also claimed that there could be three or four strong combinations from the squad of 15.

Morgan also stated that with a packed schedule in 2015, if anyone felt they cannot play good cricket, they would be moved on.

Moores said that the players need to go out there, play good, hard cricket and enjoy representing their country.
