Moto Z, Moto Z Force smartphones launched at Lenovo Tech World

American multinational telecommunications company Motorola has unveiled the much-awaited Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones at the Lenovo Tech World 2016 in San Francisco.

"With the Moto Z and Moto Z Force we are rethinking smartphones completely differently," said Lenovo CEO and chairman Yang Yuanqing.

The Motorola Moto Z and Moto Z Force will be available globally from September 2016.

Although the prices of the smartphones were not disclosed but both devices sport a fingerprint scanner on the home button and a USB Type-C port, and omit the 3.5mm headphone jack.

It also features a 5.5-inch QHD Amoled display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and a choice of 32GB or 64GB of storage.

The Moto Z Force also bears a 21-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and laser autofocus.

Headquartered in Illinois, United States, Motorola was divided into two independent public companies, Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions on January 4, 2011, after having lost USD 4.3 billion from 2007 to 2009.

Motorola Solutions is generally considered to be the direct successor to Motorola, Inc. as the reorganisation was structured with Motorola Mobility being spun off. In January 2014, Lenovo announced a proposed deal to acquire Motorola Mobility to bolster its plans for the U.S. market.
