Manchester United boss David Moyes has reportedly denied Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho's claim that United will try to sell Wayne Rooney, whose contract expires in 2015, this summer.

Chelsea host United in the Premier League on Sunday but Rooney, whose is the fourth-highest goalscorer in the club's history, will miss the game as he continues to recover from a groin injury.

According to the BBC, Mourinho, whose summer move for the England striker - his sole transfer target - was rejected, has now ruled out ever signing him from United, saying that maybe United will sell Rooney to a 'non-direct' rival, although Moyes disagreed, saying that they will make sure that they do the right things.

Meanwhile, Moyes, who succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson last summer, has received an apology from Chelsea over comments made by Mourinho claiming that all was not well at United, the report added.
