Water is released from Barna dam to maintain the water level. Traffic on Ashoknagar-Vidisha road will now remain disrupted for long as the bridge near Vidisha has been badly damaged.
The excessive rains for the past few days have affected at least 3 lakh 46 thousand people in 21 districts of the state.
Surveys to assess losses due to excessive rains have been started.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed officials to ensure concrete arrangements to prevent rain-generated diseases in affected areas and to hold health camps.
