Madhya Pradesh Tourism Minister Surendra Patwa on Thursday said senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj is a worthwhile candidate for Deputy Prime Minister of the country.
"Sushma Swaraj will go to the parliament again, but not as a leader of opposition. Sushma Swaraj will either become a cabinet minister or Deputy Prime Minister of this country," said Patwa.
Patwa's statement will certainly add fuel to the growing rivalry for bigger posts in BJP.
Earlier, Congress party leader Digvijay Singh on March 25 had said that Swaraj would be a better option for the post of Prime Minister than Narendra Modi.
The BJP has projected Modi as its prime ministerial candidate for parliamentary polls, while Swaraj is the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Singh also said that Swaraj is not associated with hardcore Hindutva ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), ideological mentor of the BJP.
