MTV European Music Awards this year went gaga over Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber, leaving stars like Beyonce and Adele empty handed.
However none of the winners were on hand to accept their awards on the night, which paid tribute to late musician Prince, reports the Daily Mail.
Reportedly, the EMA trophies were turned purple in memory of the 'Purple Rain' singer.
Gaga made making a brief pre-recorded speech from Tokyo for her 'Best Female Act' and 'Best Look prizes.'
The 'Baby' hit-maker, thought to currently be in his native Canada, won the 'Best Fans' award for his legion of loyal Beliebers along with 'Best Song' for his hit 'Sorry.'
Other big winners of the night were Martin Garrix, indie band 'Twenty One Pilots,' Shawn Mendes and others.
