President Pranab Mukherjee awarded Certificates of Honor and the Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman to Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali/Prakrit scholars at a function at Rashtrapti Bhawan here on Thursday.
The Certificates of Honor for Sanskrit were awarded to 13 scholars, including Professor Subbarayan Peri, Dr. Krishna Lal, Dr. Hansaben N. Hindocha, Professor Dr. Chandra Kant Shukla, Professor Mallikarjun B. Paraddi, Mohan Gupta, Professor Mithila Prasad Tripathi, Professor Alekha Chandra Sarangi, Padam Shastri (Padam Dutt Ojha Shastri), Dr. Ganeshi Lal Suthar, Dr. Prashsya Mitra Shastri, Bhagirath Prasad Tripathi 'Vagish Shastri' and Professor Jaya Shankar Lal Tripathi.
The Certificate of Honor for Sanskrit (International) was awarded to Dr. Robert P. Goldman.
The Certificate of Honor for Persian was awarded to Prof. (Mrs.) Qamar Ghaffar and M.H. Siddiqui.
The Certificates of Honor for Arabic were awarded to three scholars,including Mohammad Azeemuddin, Professor Zikrur Rahman and Professor Ahmad Naseem Siddiqui.
Professor Bhikshu Satyapal was awarded the Certificate of Honor for Pali/Prakrit.

The Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman was awarded to Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad for Arabic.
Dr. Anekant Kumar Jain was awarded the Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman for Pali/Prakrit.
The distinction is conferred once a year on Independence Day in recognition of the substantial contribution in the fields of Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali/Prakrit.
