"Colours of Northeast", was the theme of Northeast Festival held in Mumbai to showcase the region's culture, fabric and tourism potential.
Held under the aegis of Trend MMS, the event was attended by the city's top industrialists, Bollywood celebrities and socialites.
The aim was to promote the northeast's potential and bring it close to the mainland.
Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organiser-in-chief of the North East Festival, said: "The Northeast Festival is attempt to connecting people. North East India is not much well known outside of the North East. So, we have organized it in Delhi. In Delhi, eight states come together and showcase the culture of the north east, and we want to tell the rest of the country about different faces of the north east. It has got different culture, people and looks different but they are proud to be an Indian."
The evening was made lively by an enthralling performance by Guru Rewben Mashangva, the father of Naga folk blues, from Manipur.
The Tetseo Sisters from Nagaland also entertained the crowd with their folk songs.

Soulmate, a music band from Shillongm, also left the audiences mesmerized with their jazz and western numbers.
Amrit Pritam Dutta, a sound mixer in Bollywood from Assam, said: "It is a beautiful platform to expose our culture. Northeast has a beautiful culture, tradition, and exposing like this in Mumbai, people will definitely willing to go to the north east."
During the event, talented designers from the northeast showcased their traditional designs blended with contemporary styles.
Bollywood star Kalki Koechin walked the ramp with Adil Hussain in support of the effort.
Kalki Koechlin, an actress, said: "I am very excited; it's very rich part of India. NE we have know little bit about it. It's kind of cut off from the rest of the country. I myself had been to Assam and it's absolutely stunning and I would like to go to other parts of the NE and food is incredible and clothes they are famously known for their handicrafts, fabric design and its very unique. I am glad that I can support it."
Mumbai also hosted the third edition of the "Sankardeva Movement Festival" that showcased the culture of Assam.
Sunita Khaund Bhuyan, an accomplished violinist, joined Bihu artists from Assam.
Famous playback singer Hariharan also performed to make the event memorable.
Later, the Sattriya Dance of Assam was also performed by artists.
Festival host Suman Basu said: "Locals here are curious to know about Assam - the kind of food, culture, traditional attires, dance, music and the people of the state. These artists have brought a piece of Assam here. We are very happy."
Such festivals help bridge the gap between the northeastern states and the rest of the country and promotes national integration.
