Britain number one Andy Murray has bagged the first clay-court title of his career after trouncing Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in a grueling three-set thriller on Monday in the Munich Open final.

Murray, the world number three, claimed a 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) win over Kohlschreiber in a match that lasted just over three hours to seal 32nd title of his career.

Reflecting on his performance, Murray said that it was a really tough match and he had been getting frustrated as the German served very close to the line, Sport24 reported.

Murray said that he felt the momentum was with his opponent for a lot of the match, adding that it took a long time for him to get it back.

The Briton added that it was a high quality game as they both served well and produced some good rallies.

With the win, Murray became the first British player to win an ATP clay-court tournament since Englishman Christopher Mottram in April 1976.
