British Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has won his first match at the French Open since 2012 in the opening round on Tuesday, after he missed last year because of a back injury.

The Scot came through 6-1 6-4 3-6 6-3 against the world number 53 Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan on Court Suzanne Lenglen and will next face world number 66 Marinko Matosevic in the second round after the Australian beat Dustin Brown.

According to the BBC, Murray battled valiantly against windy and cold conditions along with a distracting high-wire camera, which swoops the length of the court between games, to ease into the second round of the tournament.

Meanwhile, former champion Li Na and 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov lost earlier on Tuesday to crash out of Roland Garros, the report added.
