Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has said that he had never had a tougher match against Rafael Nadal after he lost 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 to the Spaniard in the French Open semifinals.

Murray said that Nadal was hitting extremely hard, extremely heavy, returning well and was hitting well on the run, as the eight-time champion at Roland Garros defeated the Briton in one hour and 40 minutes.

According to the BBC, Murray, who was playing in his second semifinal at the French Open, said that that is the toughest match he has played against Nadal, having also been beaten by the Spaniard in 2011.

Murray said that once one reaches the semifinal, one obviously wants to try and give oneself an opportunity, and he did not give himself a chance in any of the sets against Nadal.

Murray added that that is the reason he is disappointed, because one wants to be competitive, and make it hard for Nadal, but he was not able to do that.
