Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has advanced to the second round of the Rio Open after registering a comfortable straight sets win over compatriot Pablo Carreno on Wednesday.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion claimed a thumping 6-1, 6-4 win over Carreno in a rain-interrupted contest that lasted 80 minutes, Sport24 reported.
Meanwhile, David Ferrer also reached the second round with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win over Nicolas Jarry of Chile.
