Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Saturday called for Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's resignation over latter's alleged involvement in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.
"The investigation in this case had begun during UPA regime when he was the steel minister. The preliminary investigation that had begun in UPA regime has now culminated into an FIR. This is a clear cut case of corruption, and on moral grounds he should immediately resign," Nadda told ANI.
Further responding to Congress questioning timing of CBI raids on Singh's properties, Nadda said, "NDA has nothing to do with this case, the investigations began during UPA regime."
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) this morning raided eleven locations in Himachal Pradesh and New Delhi connected to or with Chief Minister Singh.
A Disproportionate Assets case has also been registered against Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Delhi High Court had earlier directed the CBI and the Income Tax department to file status reports of their investigation into the disproportionate assets case against Virbhadra Singh.
Both CBI and the Income Tax department were told to file their respective reports in a sealed cover within four weeks.
