Nagaland CM calls for change, says humans intruding into abode of animals

Asserting that community participation is the most affective form of wildlife protection and conservation, Nagaland Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang made the grave observation that humans are intruding into the abode of animals and called for an immediate change of ways.

While speaking as the chief guest during the Human-Animal Conflict Mitigation Awareness Campaign and release of satellite tagged birds at Beisampeukam village, he emphasised on the importance of the inter dependency between man and animal.

He urged the gathering and special emphasized to the villagers of Beisampeukam to protect and preserve the Intangki National Forest, which is adjacent to their village, as has been agreed upon as per the MOU with the government.

Stating that the national forest has the potential to be the hotspot of tourism, the Chief Minister added called on the citizens to rededicate themselves for the protection of wildlife.

He also said that, the year 2017 will be declared as 'The Year of Plantation' in order to revive the ecosystem.
