Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday criticised Rahul Gandhi for alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was taking economic lessons from his predecessor Dr. Manmohan Singh and said the Congress vice president must check his facts before speaking.
Naidu said despite economic intellectuals being part of the former UPA regime the growth rate had drastically come down.
"Growth was 8.4 percent during Vajpayee ji's regime, intellectuals like Manmohan ji, Montek Singh [Ahluwalia] ji and Chidamabaram ji brought it down successfully to 4.8 percent," he said.
"I suggest Rahul [Gandhi] ji to do some homework and do some research before he speaks. First know about the country, know about the problems in the country," he added.
Highlighting the downfall of the Congress in the last ten years, Naidu said that Gandhi should learn lessons from Prime Minister Modi who was the chief minister of Gujarat for 13 years, projected a model of his state before the world.
