Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday dubbed the religious comment made by Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad to Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan as completely wrong and asked the concerned authorities in Islamabad to look into the matter.
"If he has said this, then that is completely wrong...these people should know that with these (comments), they are only harming Islam. The Government of Pakistan must look into this matter," Naqvi told ANI here.
During a one-day international being played last Saturday between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Shehzad was reportedly caught on camera telling Dilshan to convert himself to Islam.
"If you are a non-Muslim and you turn Muslim, no matter whatever you do in your life.... straight to heaven," Shehzad had said.
The Sri Lankan cricketer's reply was inaudible. Shehzad further said, "Then be ready for the fire."
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is investigating the religious comment made by Shehzad to Dilshan. He was summoned to the PCB headquarters in Lahore on Wednesday and asked about his comments.
