Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday alleged that the Congress leaders were competing to criticize him and urged the people of Maharashtra to elect a stable government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Attacking the Congress-NCP combine which has ruled the state for the last fifteen years, Prime Minister Modi reminded the assembled crowd that several communal riots have taken place in Maharashtra.
Attempting to reach out to the middle-class and lower middle-class, Prime Minister Modi promised a house for every family by 2022 when the nation celebrates its 75th Independence Day.
"Every family of the nation will have a house of their own by 2022, I have this vision. Where one will get electricity, water supply...," he said at an election rally in Mumbai.

The Prime Minister also used the occasion to highlight the initiatives of his government at the Centre and listed out the upcoming projects which it plans to undertake.

"We will put the best Metro of India in Mumbai within our tenure only and we will inaugurate it. We will establish Navi Mumbai Airport, Mumbai-Navi Mumbai sea link within our tenure," he said.
Prime Minister Modi also pointed about how the mantra of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' was gaining popularity across the United States of America.
Describing Mumbai as mini India, Prime Minister Modi said, "We need to usher in new era of economic development for Maharashtra. Mumbai is the city where the BJP was formed."
"The BJP always has the blessings of Mumbaikaars and Chhatrapati Shivaji," he added.
Prime Minister Modi also stated that it was time to move beyond caste politics and focus on development.
Maharashtra will go to polls on October 15 along with Haryana while the counting in both states will be held on October 19.
