With the opposition now questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move asking the BJP MPs and MLAs to submit details of their bank account transactions post demonetisation, Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday said the nation is giving a befitting reply to those doubting the intentions of the pro-poor government.

Talking to the media, Prasad said Prime Minister Modi's government and he himself came to power to change the country and carry the nation on a development path.

"I have nothing to comment on the assertions made by the people in the opposition.. As far as the (opposition) criticism is concerned, the people of the country are replying to it. We won in Madhya Pradesh and Assam, our vote percentage improved in Tripura and the BJP performed exceptionally well in Maharashtra. So, we are working and will continue to work for the nation. Our government is dedicated to the poor," he said

Countering the opposition's tirade over Government's new Income Declaration Scheme, he said, "It is written in the Indian Constitution as to what is Money Bill and what is not. And after the speaker certifies it, it is called a Money Bill. As far as I know, any change related to the Income Tax is a Money Bill."

Prime Minister Modi had earlier in the day asked BJP MPs and MLAs to submit details of their bank account transactions between November 8 and December 31 to party president Amit Shah.

Addressing BJP Parliamentary Party meeting in New Delhi today, Prime Minister Modi rejected the allegation that the Income-Tax Amendment Bill tabled in the Lok Sabha yesterday is for converting black money into white.
