Nation observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

The nation is today observing Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The theme this year is Integration of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in paying tributes to the 'Unifier of India' at Patel Statue and later in the Parliament.

Prime Minister Modi will release a commemorative stamp at a programme to be held at the India Gate. He would also administer Ekta Pledge and flag off 'Unity Run'.

A digital film on the life of Sardar Patel will be released at a programme to be organized by the Ministry of Culture at Pragati Maidan. Various activities are being organised across the country.

The government had last year decided to observe Sardar Patel Jayanti Day as Ekta Diwas. This occasion provides an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand the threats to its unity, integrity and security.
