A national level netball and hammer throw player has been left fighting for her life after she was brutally attacked with acid by unknown men near her home in Punjab's Gursdapur.
The attack took place on Wednesday when the girl was returning home after giving her twelfth board exam.
The girl was first taken to the Gurdaspur Medical Hospital but was later shifted to the Guru Nanak Dev hospital in Amritsar, where her condition is said to be serious.
The victim's parents, meanwhile, have alleged that they had complained to the police about some threatening calls that their son was receiving but no action had been taken.
The police have lodged an FIR and the case is currently under investigation.
