Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that his government would not take any extra-judicial step in overriding a court's ruling on Dr Shakil Afridi, who helped the U.S. to locate Osama bin Laden from his hideout in Abbottabad.
Sharif said that the court would decide Afridi's fate according to Pakistani law, Dawn News reports.
The U.S. authorities have been pressurising Pakistan from a very long time to hand over Afridi to America.
He is accused of colluding with the banned militant outfit Lashkar-i-Islam, and its chief Mangal Bagh.
Afridi was convicted and sentenced to 33 years of imprisonment in May 2012 by a tribal court for his involvement in anti-state activities.
However, a judicial official overturned his jail sentence in August 2013, but Afridi remained in detention.
