Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz have been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL), according to the Pakistan Interior Ministry sources.

The names of the father-daughter duo was placed on the list as they were convicted in the Avenfield reference case, Geo TV quoted the ministry sources as saying.

Sharif and Maryam, who are expected to return to Pakistan on July 13, are likely to be arrested during the immigration process upon their arrival at the Lahore airport.

As per sources, they will be sent to the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi directly from Lahore via a helicopter, wherein a letter has been written by the director general (DG) of NAB Lahore to its chief.

Sources added that the accountability court judge would also be required to visit the prison.

Earlier, the NAB wrote three different letters to the Pakistan Interior Ministry urging them to place the names of Sharif and Maryam on the ECL in February, June, and July this year respectively. But, the request fell on deaf ears.
