NBC News chief Vivian Schiller is reportedly closer in the run to the top news job at microblogging site Twitter.
Sources said that Schiller, 52, is in negotiations with Twitter to become its first head of news but is yet to decide on the offer.
According to the New York Post, along with Schiller, Reuters outgoing Digital Chief Jim Roberts was also speculated to be competing for the post.
The report said that Schiller has held positions at CNN, NPR and the NYT and is considered an ideal candidate for the job at Twitter, which is set to go public in the coming month.
