NCSC summons top cops in Haryana over VK Singh's remark

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Friday summoned top cops in Ghaziabad, seeking a response on what action had been initiated against Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) V.K. Singh's 'dog' remark under the SC-ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.

"Taking into cognizance VK Singh's statement, the National Commission for SCs has issued a notice to SSP Ghaziabad seeking a response on what action has been taken under SC-ST Prevention of Atrocities Act," NCSC chairman P.L. Punia told ANI.

The NCSC has issued summons to Haryana's Director General of Police (DGP) and Ghaziabad's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), asking them to appear on November 2.

General (Retd.) Singh, who is the Bharatiya Janata Party's MP from Ghaziabad, had while attempting to delink the Centre over the killing of two Dalit kids said the government is blamed even if a stone is pelted at a dog.

The former army chief's statement drew sharp criticism.
