Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Tuesday released the party's manifesto for the Varanasi constituency from where BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is contesting the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
"We are confident that the NDA will be able to acquire a comfortable majority in these elections. There are only two choices we have in this election. One is the NDA under the able leadership of Narendra Modi. The other is total chaos. From this chaos, it is unlikely that a settled government will be formed," said Jaitley after releasing the manifesto.
He also expressed confidence in party candidate Smriti Irani winning from Amethi constituency, the bastion of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
"I am confident that Smriti Irani will not only win, but win with a good margin and rewrite the history of Amethi," he said.
He also said that the people of Varansai have to decide whether they want Modi, who will become the next prime minister of the country or the Congress candidate who takes support from criminals.
Taking on Priyanka Gandhi, Jaitley said, "The Congress leader who used the word 'neech' must apologize to the country. We will be waiting for this apology. Use of this word highlights their arrogance."
Hitting back at Modi, Priyanka had said, "They have insulted my martyred father on the soil of Amethi. People of Amethi will never forgive them for this act. Workers in Amethi will reply to their 'neech' (low-level) politics. There will be reply from each of the booths.
