NDRF deploys 14 teams in Gujarat for cyclone 'Nilofar'

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 14 rescue and relief teams comprising more than 550 rescuers with boats and other flood rescue equipment as proactive measures to mitigate the situation during cyclonic storm 'Nilofar' in Gujarat.

One team each has been deployed at Somnath, Gandhidam, Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagarh, Veeraval, Rajkot and Vadodara while two teams each have been deployed at Surat, Kutch and Bhuj.

Two more teams of the NDRF have been deployed in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

The DIG of NDRF, Randeep Rana, is being sent to coordinate the NDRF operations with the state authorities at Gandhinagar.

The Kutch district administration in Gujarat has chalked out a plan to evacuate more than 30,000 people staying in 123 coastal villages in view of cyclonic storm 'Nilofar'. About 200 relief centers have been set up in public schools, community centers and other safer places.
