World renowned author, thought leader and commentator, Gurcharan Das, has said that the organizations need to revisit the recruitment processes and policies to harness the potential future leaders and build assets.
"Recruitment is not only a human resource function; it has to be aligned with the senior management perspective. Along with a 'bias to action', execution is more important than strategy for the leaders. The institutions are built by campus recruits and not by mid-career hiring," said Das while addressing the HRM Summit 2015- Developing Future Leaders in India organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today.
Member of Parliament from Sikkim P.D. Rai, who was also present on the occasion, said the digital media has changed the knowledge inflow and this has largely impacted the leadership styles.
"Though the leadership culture in political domain is different from the corporate world, but it is imperative to apply innovation in recruitment processes and leadership styles in both politics and corporate world," he added.
Rumjhum Chatterjee, the conference chairperson, and the deputy chairperson, CII Northern Region and Group Managing Director - HCD, Feedback Infra Pvt Ltd., said the era of digital abundance, which features an overwhelming volume of information delivered at dizzying speed, has the potential to be a game changer if harnessed effectively by Indian business leaders.
"The next generation of leaders must understand that problems can be solved by expert networks outside the traditional employee domain and that others outside the inner corporate circle may have the best solutions," added Chatterjee.
Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, Indian School of Business (ISB) said the entrepreneurs in current scenario need to cross the last mile and need to think out of the box.
