Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and Lalit Kala Akademi ink exchange programme MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and the Lalit Kala Akademi of India for a Nepal-India Art Exchange Programme on Thursday.

The pact was inked at the NAFA office, Sita Bhawan, Naxal. The MoU is for enhancing the close and friendly relations between Nepal and India.

As per the MoU, NAFA and the Lalit Kala Akademi of India will work hand-in-hand to further enhance mutual understanding and friendly cultural relationship between the fine arts academicians, creative artists, culture administrators, scholars and intellectuals of the two countries through the exchange of delegations relating to various fine arts and cultural issues, and art exhibitions and exchange programme on a reciprocal basis.

In addition, NAFA and Lalit Kala Akademi will conduct art exhibitions, support translation and publish books related to fine arts of both the countries.

These two organizations will organize seminars and symposia on contemporary art practices and conduct art workshops and related activities between two countries. They will carry out exchange programmes for enhancing the relationship between the intellectuals, art critics, artists and other related to fine arts.

India's Ambassador to Nepal, Mr. Ranjit Rae, said, "Art is one of the crucial areas that bring India and Nepal closer. This was much awaited MoU. The Embassy of India in Kathmandu will lend all support to promote exchange of art and culture between our two countries.
