Nepal: EC urges people to vote fearlessly in upcoming polls

The Nepal's Election Commission has urged voters to vote without any fear in the final round of local polls in Province no. 2.

Though the Election Commission is confident over holding the election on time and has completed the preparations.

The violent protest in the 2015 witnessed the death of over 100 people during the marathon protest in the region.

The bloodshed over the period of time in the southern plain of Nepal always has been the common concern at the time of holding elections but Election Commission Commissioner Dr. Ayodhi Prasad Yadav appealed voters to use their rights without feeling of fear and suppression.

The Nepal' Election Commission has also made all the preparations for the polls in province no 2, which had witnessed marathon protests over the Constitution Amendment.

"In the third phase of local elections the province no. 2's eight districts, 136 local levels will go for the polls on Monday, from 7 AM in the morning till 5 PM in the evening. I would like to inform all the voters, general public, political parties and concerned bodies that the preparations to commence the election has been completed," Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Ayodhi Prasad Yadav said during a press briefing..

Yadav also expressed his trust over good governance from the representatives who would be elected.

"The grain house of Nepal, Madhesh is lately facing problems of flooding and its aftermath effects and the election will elect the representatives who will work in favor of people, the commission believes," Yadav added..

"Security bodies have ensured the peace and security over the region. If there is any attempt to curtail the rights of the people, the security forces will diffuse such attempts, the Election Commission believes. In order to stop any sort of trespassing from border, the commission has already directed the security bodies over it," Yadav stated in an attempt to convince the voters.

In third phase of local polls a total of 37236 candidates are in the fray and is claimed to be six times more than that of previous ones.
