Nepal President confers merit awards on 297 students

Nepal's President, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, conferred the Nepal Bidhya Bhusan and Nepal Chhatra Bidhya Padak on students holding PhD and Master's degrees during a special event held at his official residence Shital Niwas, on Monday.

According to the nepalnews.com web site, the event organized by the Ministry of Education on the occasion of the 35th National Education Day and International Literacy Day.

President Yadav presented the medals and certificates to 297 students, including those completing PhD from different universities, in and out of the country, and those with outstanding performance in different levels.

Around 175 PhD holders were awarded the Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Class 'A' medals and certificates.

Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Class 'B' medals were presented to 62 students completing Master's degrees and the Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Class 'C' medals to 20 students with outstanding performances in Bachelor's degree.

President Yadav awarded the Nepal Chhatraa Bidhya medal to 26 girls who topped Bachelor's level and 14 that topped the Certificate Level under different faculties.

The students received medals on recommendation of the Education Ministry.

Vice-President Paramanand Jha, Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Prakashman Singh, Minister for Education Chitra Lekha Yadav and high-officials of the government were present at the event.
