Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said the Centre has launched a war against corruption and black money holders, adding that many more measures would be announced by the ruling dispensation "till the last rupee of black money is traced out."
"More and more benefits will flow in future, thus this beginning of the victory of war. I would like to tell people of Tamil Nadu and the country, the war will continue till the last rupee of black money is traced out. Since Independence no other Prime Minister or government has launched such a large multi pronged major war against corruption and black money," he said while addressing the media here.
Naidu furthered said that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to see a corruption-free India where the honest people would be the king.
"A new corruption free India is beginning to take shape. The Prime Minister wants honest people to be the king of new India in the making. Corruption was spreading like cancer across the country integral to the very vitals of body politics," he said.
"This how Prime Minister Modi is living up to the expectations of people and the confidence reposed in him.... he is doing nothing new, except honouring the mandate of the people," he added.
The Union Minister also lauded the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) for cutting their lending rates, taking queue from Prime Minister Modi's message on New Year's Eve.
"The Prime Minister launched the new year with an announcement of various welfare measures for poor, middle and lower middle class, farmers, small traders and senior citizens. This was prompted by the return of huge high value currency to banking system. Yesterday three leading banks announced cut in interest rates; that is going to benefit command man. So it's very clear the benefits of notes withdrawal have begun," he said.
