New current affairs magazine India Legal makes a mark

A new current affairs magazine, India Legal, has hit the news stands across the country, and is likely to become a popular periodical.

Though named "Legal", it deals with all national and international issues of importance.

For example, the issue that was published on June 30, frontpaged Ajit Doval, the new National Security Adviser, and called him "Modi's Cowboy", and published inside a comprehensive piece on him, such as how he rose from a young police officer deployed at the Golden Temple as part of the "Black Thunder "operations to heading the Intelligence Bureau several years later.It also recounts the important role played by Doval in every event of national importance, particularly in combating militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

Post retirement, Doval headed the Viveknanda Foundation, a think tank based in Delhi.

The issue also had a comprehensive article on the swearing in ceremony of the Modi Government, which saw leaders of South Asian Countries in attendance.

The issue also contained an article on the new face of terror in Jammu and Kashmir, and focusses on the threat posed by Naxals to the country.

The next issue of the fortnightly contains an article which focusses on the new council of ministers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, titled "The King's Knights", and gives a brief on the tasks ahead of them.

It has a analytical piece on controversy surrounding the proposed appointment of Gopal Subramanium and Rohinton Nariman as Supreme Court judges. It is followed by an indepth piece on rising sex addiction in the country.

The issue also has a piece on the terror trail from Afghanistan and Pakistan, which poses a danger to Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India. It is followed by the activities of the Boko Haram Group in Nigeria.

The latest issue of the journal has an article on India building its sea power to emerge as a major player in the Indian Ocean, followed b an analytical piece titled "Chinese Checkers", which presents a study of the initiatives, economic and diplomatic , taken by China towards India.

The issue has an interesting piece which recalls General Pervez Musharraf stating that he and former Indian Premier Atal Behari Vajpayee had agreed upon the Line of Control becoming the official border between India and Pakistan. That is history now. And do not miss the Ness' Mess.

It also contains an interesting article on the developments in West Asia, and the dangers it poses for the country.
