Before heavy curtains or pricey soundproof windows were the best ways to keep out the disruptive noises of the city streets out off urban homes.
However, an Austrian industrial designer Rudolf Stefanich has created a 'Sono' device that sticks on windows and turns it into a filter for disruptive noises such as horns and construction work, the Huffington Post reported.
Pleasant sounds like birds chirping can even be allowed to come inside the home with just a turn of a knob.
