New Zealand's Chief of Defence Forces Lt General Timothy Keating was on a two-day visit to Pune from February 21 to 22, accompanied by his wife Brenda Keating and a seven-member delegation.
Keating, who is also a member of New Zealand Order of Merit, briefly visited the Air Force Station, Lohegaon on his first day, the Defence Spokesperson stated.
On February 22, he and his team visited Headquarters Southern Command and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla.
On arrival, Lieutenant General Keating and the delegation were briefed on the activities of Southern Command, after which he interacted with Lieutenant General D R Soni, Param Vishist Seva Medal, Vishist Seva Medal, Aide-De-Camp, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command. Chief of Defence Forces New Zealand, and then proceeded to the NDA for obtaining a first-hand experience on the methodology of training at the academy, which is a premiere tri-services training institute for training officers of the three services.
Keating's wife Brenda Timothy Keating also visited 'Protsahan', a Skill Development Centre of Southern Command which imparts training to empower the wives of the Army personnel and acquainted with various vocational training courses being conducted at the Centre. She also interacted with Suman Soni, Regional President Army Wives Welfare Association.
The Chief of Defence Forces left for Mumbai, on Thursday.
